If you like stout beer, you’ll be right at home with driking All Out Extra Dark. It tastes just like the alcohol version of the brew. It’s not my favorite style of beer, but before I gave up drinking, I did order up a few on occasion, for some variety. This review of Athletic Brewing Co All Out Extra Dark will give you an overview of this brew.
Unless you like this style of brew, I wouldn’t recommend stocking up. Although, I sometimes use this for cooking and for mixing brews. With other brews that I have tried and didn’t love, I would use the Extra Dark to mix. This added some umph to the brews.
I don’t have too much to say about this brew, other than it tastes just like regular stout. If you like stout, you’ll like this. If you are not a fan of stout, you may want to pass on this. This is no reflection on the company (Athletic Brewing Co) as the brew is made just right. It’s a matter of taste. But you can use this in recipes that call for stout as one of the ingredients.
Bottom Line
You Like Stout = Buy
You Don’t Like Stout = Don’t Buy
Nothing more needs to be said!
Reviews
One reviewer felt this brew tasted better than some of the alcoholic versions. The reviewer was happy that there is only 80 calories per can.
Another reviewer thought the taste was terrible. But I suspect this person doesn’t get the whole concept of stout. They probably didn’t make the connection that stout is a full-bodied, almost molasses-like taste. You can’t expect this to taste like an IPA or any other style of beer other than stout.
Where to Find
In the Metro New York area, you should have no trouble finding this in liquor stores and maybe even supermarkets. Athletic Brewing Co also sells it on their website.
